Before I get into ranks and behavior, I want to set down a few basic roleplay rules:
1. No god-modding... Do not say whether a blow will land on another character or control another person's wolf in any way unless you have their express and very specific permission to do so.
2. Absolutely no one liner posts. For now I'm setting a 150 word limit on IC posts. That number may rise eventually. If you go under that limit, I will delete the post after notifying you to redo it.
3. No killing someone else's character without their permission and a PM to me. This goes with god-modding but needs to be pointed out.
4. Don't forget you are a wolf when posting, not a human. Do your best to write from the point of view of an animal, not a human. ie. Your wolf would not freak out just because its paws got wet and there are no vegetarians in this rp.
5. You may have mating threads, but just fade out when it comes to the actual act of mating. After all, this site is accessible to both adults and teens. Be respectable.

Ranks and Their Duties:
Alphas- These are the decision makers and are a mated pair. All choices such as where and what to hunt, where to go, what to do together as a pack, and whether or not to challenge another pack for territory are made by these two wolves. They are not fighters themselves and do not discipline pack members who are in the wrong. They simply direct life to create order.
Beta- There will be two Betas for now who are the defenders of the alphas and enforcers of the decisions made by alphas. These are the wolves who do the disciplining when needed and make sure that no wolf opposes the alphas without severe consequences. The character who holds this position has to be a very aggressive wolf who is not afraid to die to protect their leaders.
Tester- For now, no more than 3 testers are allowed per pack. Their job is what is sounds like. Testers watch the other members of the pack en be sure that all are pulling their own weight and getting their jobs done correctly. Ex. If a Beta doesn't seem to be enforcing the rules, a tester will purposely pick a fight. If the beta loses, then he/she does not deserve that position and another will replace them. A tester will also be the one to decide if a wolf is good enough to join the pack. They will continuously bother the other wolf. If the tester get's attacked, the loner will be rejected. If the newcomer just takes the jabs and nips, they will be accepted into the ranks. A character with this rank is generally skittish and always on alert.
Omega- These wolves diffuse tense situations by fooling around between the two angry wolves and will do anything they can to prevent or break up a fight before anyone gets majorly hurt. These wolves are the peacekeepers and are not afraid to get hurt in doing their duty. There will only be two of these wolves for now. A character with this rank must have a good sense of humor.
Storyteller- This wolf, along with a young apprentice or two, will hold all the histories of their respective pack, along with the folklore that have been built into a religion over time. The storyteller's in every pack know about all the God, but aside from the two base ones, Lup and Preda, the general wolf goddess and the god of all the prey animals. As a general custom, this wolf will also lead ceremonies that deal with at least one of the other gods or goddesses.
Nurses- These wolves are caretakers of the young whenever the mother is away on hunts and teaches them much about pack life. Sure, the alphess will teach her pups how to hunt and all those types of things, but a nurse will teach the pups the DOs and DON'Ts of pack life before they reach adulthood. The nurse also helps the pups decide what kind of rank they fit best in the pack. A character in this rank will most likely be higher up in age and very wise and understanding. When there are not pups in the pack, a nurse may help out wherever needed.

Behavior Rules and Consequences:
#1. Do not disrespect your alpha. consequence: The Beta will promptly smack you around and the diffusers will not interfere unless the fight gets life-threatening. If you give in, you will be allowed to stay. If you do this again, you may be kicked out of the pack.
#2 Everyone hunts together Consequence: If you don't participate and your character is over a year, you do not eat, but will still post in a meal thread if there is one. Exceptions: You are under 1, You are a nurse watching pups, You are pregnant.
#3 Don't touch the pups unless you have been assigned to temporary nurse duty or are their mother. The pups of the pack are off limits until they can talk and and play by their own choice. Consequences: If you hurt a pup, you will be temporarily kicked to lone wolf status. If you kill a pup, you will either be killed or permanently kicked out. If you simply get too close, a stern snarl will be your only reproach. Exceptions: If you ask the mother to see the pups, you may approach and possibly play, but the other consequences come without exceptions except if the event can be proven to be an accident. If a pup ends up dead and you are to blame in any way, you will not be permitted to stay.
#4 Don't play with your food, kill quickly. Consequences: You will not participate in the meal if you disrespect a prey animal by toying with it before killing it. The kill will be taken by the beta to be shared with the rest of the pack while you don't eat until the next hunt
#5 Don't have pups if the Alphess can have a litter. Consequences: You and your pups may be asked to leave if the alphess has her own litter. You will not be treated badly, just asked to leave to keep the status of the alpha's pups intact. Exceptions: If the alphess can't or won't have a litter of her own, one or two females will be permitted to have pups as long as their positions can be filled while she is taking care of her young.
